General Information

This online course is a key component of the full hands-on Basic RiderCourse, but can also be completed as a stand-alone program without enrolling in a hands-on course. Graphics and videos illustrate the lessons to help you understand principles of motorcycling and determine whether motorcycling is right for you. The Basic eCourse alone is NOT accepted as a license waiver by any state’s DMV, or as a motorcycle license or learner’s permit. Spanish language option also available.

The MSF Basic eCourse is a highly interactive 3-hr. online program that provides riders of all skill levels with the basics of motorcycling. With integrated graphics, photos and video to illustrate the lessons, the $19.99 program allows you to control the pace of your learning. Please note that the Basic eCourse alone is NOT accepted as a license waiver by any state’s department of motor vehicles, or as a license to ride a motorcycle or as a learner’s permit.

The MSF Basic eCourse serves as an introductory check for anyone interested in riding a motorcycle. It helps you determine whether motorcycling is right for you. Plus, it is a great supplement for those who intend to take a non-MSF hands-on course.
